Aichi History

Aichi was founded in 1962 as a manufacturer and seller of lift vehicles for electric utilities and telecommunications, as well as other vehicles for construction. Today, the company is the dominant market leader in its home country, accounting for 70% all aerial lift equipment sales in Japan.

Aichi introduced its first aerial work platform in 1965. Ever since, Aichi has worked closely with customers to develop new products. By focusing on the issues faced daily at busy worksites, Aichi is able to better meet the challenges of the construction industry.

Among the company’s many innovations over the years are the SE105EV full electric aerial work platform, the RL050 railroad line maintenance machine, and the TZ15A heavy-duty platform capacity aerial tower.

In an effort to meet with as many of its customers as possible, Aichi established its TECHNOPLAZA. Since its inauguration in 1990, TECHNOPLAZA has hosted more than 100,000 guests. The facility has been the setting for interaction with customers, the introduction of new products and new work methods, as well as training and education.

Since the establishment of a joint venture with a local manufacturer in 1995, Hangzhou Aichi Engineering Vehicles Co., Ltd. has been manufacturing and supplying aerial work platforms in China. In 2002, it built a new factory and has grown to become the top manufacturer in that country, with a market share of 40%. Also in 2002, Aichi formalized a business alliance and capital partnership with Toyota Industries Corporation. Aichi manufactures and sells lifts for several markets, including electric utilities and telecommunications, construction, cargo handling, shipbuilding and railroads.
